Pool Party Massacre gets a very cool retro-style poster

Drew Marvick Pool Party Massacre

A whole lot of filmmakers out there share my affection for horror movies of the '80s, and while the results aren't always so great it still warms my heart every time I see a director say their film is a "blood-soaked love letter to the slasher films of the '80s", or something along those lines. That particular quote comes from writer/director Drew Marvick, whose cinematic love letter is called POOL PARTY MASSACRE.

A no budget, cursed production (according to Marvick), the film tells the following story:

What started out as a relaxing summer day by the pool for a group of high maintenance young socialites quickly turns into a nightmare when an unknown killer starts stalking and murdering them one by one.

To convey to potential viewers that his film is aiming to be a slasher throwback, Marvick enlisted the talents of artist Marc Schoenbach to create a poster meant to conjure up memories of old school VHS boxes. The folks over at Bloody-Disgusting got the official first look at Schoenbach's art, which can be seen below.

Schoenbach did an incredible job capturing an '80s feel with this art, and this definitely looks like something I would have rented from a local (now non-existent) video store back in the day.

Building my hype for POOL PARTY MASSACRE even further is another quote provided by Marvick: "My goal was to try to achieve a perfect recipe of practical gore fx, hot girls, heavy metal, homage, comedy, nudity, and even a little bit of story."
