Javier Botet will provide his twisted skills to The Mummy, It remake

Javier Botet It The Mummy

Javier Botet has a very particular set of skills, and they're all terrifying. The versatile and extraordinarily flexible actor first caught my attention as the terrifying Niña Medeiros that haunts the [REC] franchise, but he has played an astonishing amount of iconic and frightening monsters.

He has most recently appeared in THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR as the demonic Myrtu and this month's THE CONJURING 2 as The Crooked Man, but he's also played various ghosts in CRIMSON PEAK and a Nightmare Character in THE REVENANT. He's a modern day Lon Chaney, bringing nightmares to life, and he is joining the casts of both the IT remake and Universal's newest MUMMY film, which places both of them much higher on my priority list.

We don't yet know what roles he will be playing, but they will certainly be skinny and horrifying.

In THE MUMMY, directed by Alex Kurtzman:

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

The cast already includes Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, and Marwan Kenzari. The film is coming June 9, 2017.

In Andy Muschietti's IT, a two-parter with the first coming on September 18, 2017:

Seven children known as The Losers Club who come face to face with life problems, bullies and a monster that takes the shape of a clown called Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård).

The cast of kids in Pennywise's sights includes Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor. Their bullies will be played by Owen Teague and Nicholas Hamilton.
