New trailers surface for Blake Lively shark thriller The Shallows

The first trailer for director Jaume Collet-Serra's shark thriller THE SHALLOWS was a very moody one that built up a feeling of terror and desperation. Now a second trailer for the film has arrived online, and this one is packed with action and death.

Written by Tony Jaswinski and starring Blake Lively, THE SHALLOWS centers on

a young woman who is dealing with the recent death of her mother. While surfing on an isolated beach, she gets stranded 20 yards off shore on a buoy. What lies between her and the shore is a huge great white shark.

While I find some of the (admittedly high quality) CG effects on display in this new trailer to be a bit off-putting, THE SHALLOWS still looks to me like it will be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to checking it out when it reaches theatres on August 12th.

Also embedded below is the film's international trailer, which is quite similar to the second trailer.
