Milla Jovovich is preparing for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER is running a bit behind schedule. Originally announced for a September 12, 2014 release date, the film was first delayed when director Paul W.S. Anderson decided to fit in the historical disaster movie POMPEII (on which he replaced Roman Polanski) between RESIDENT EVIL projects. Then it was all set to start filming in South Africa last September, but had to be delayed again at the last minute when it was discovered that the director had impregnanted his leading lady/wife Milla Jovovich. Anderson and Jovovich have since welcomed a healthy new addition to their family, and now the parents are gearing up to get back to work on RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER.

Months ago, Jovovich announced on her Facebook page that production would begin in August, and it appears that the project is staying on that schedule, as sixteen hours ago she posted a picture on Instagram that shows her getting her face cast for THE FINAL CHAPTER, along with the note:

Well, the moment so many of you have been waiting for is finally here where I can tell you that it's zombie killing season for the Jovovich-Anderson clan! Here I am getting my face cast made for "resident evil: the final chapter"!! I leave to South Africa tomorrow to start prepping for the movie!

Yesterday she said tomorrow, so that means Jovovich is on her way to South Africa today to reprise the role of the franchise's superhuman heroine, Alice.

RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER might actually make its September 2, 2016 release date, reaching theatres almost exactly two years late.

With over a year to go until then, that gives me time to catch up on the series. I saw the first two movies in the theatre, but I never gave the third my full attention on DVD, and still haven't seen the fourth or fifth at all.
