The Craft

Here’s an interesting one—Leigh Janiak, the mind behind last year’s fantastic indie HONEYMOON, has been set to write and direct a new version of THE CRAFT, reports THR. Sony is remaking the 1996 supernatural teen thriller, which will see Phil Graziadei co-write the script alongside Janiak. And interestingly enough, Doug Wick, who was one of THE CRAFT’s original producers, is back in the same capacity, this time producing with Lucy Fisher.

The original, directed by Andrew Fleming, starred Robin Tunney, who arrives at a Catholic school and befriends a trio of wannabe witches, played by Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell and Rachel True. The trio turn out to be amateur practionners and welcome Tunney’s character, a natural, into their fold. When they use their magic to fix personal issues, they discover that dark forces aren't something to trifle with.

Janiak is a great new talent in the world of horror and it’ll certainly be interesting to see what she brings to this one, and hopefully she’ll put her own spin on it.
