Men in Black/21 Jump Street crossover may happen, say Lord and Miller

If you thought that MEN IN BLACK/21 JUMP STREET crossover sounded like a crazy pipe dream, you’d better wake up, because it still might happen.

That’s the word from JUMP STREET directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord, whose names were attached to the project when it was first revealed last month thanks to the massive Sony email hack. Though they don’t confirm anything, Lord and Miller certainly didn’t deny their involvement in the wild franchise mash-up during an interview with MTV:

Nothing’s changed,” Lord said. “It’s still a crazy idea, and we only do things that seem like they’re going to be terrible… We’re really focussing on what’s a great story for Schmidt and Jenko and how to tell the next chapter in their lives. And perhaps use creatures from another world at the same time.”

The way I see it is, why not? There aren’t many other places either franchise can go at this point, so what’s the harm in rolling the dice on something unconventional and weird and potentially amazing?

We’ll have to wait and see how this shakes out. Lord and Miller are currently working on THE LEGO MOVIE 2, which isn’t expected in theaters until 2018. Perhaps this can be fit in beforehand?
