Prolific Japanese director Takashi Miike has another piece of insanity to share with us, this one a real mind-blower (literally). Called AS THE GODS WILL, it’s based on a manga about a group of high schoolers who find themselves playing a deadly game where the losers really lose their heads. Yes, sounds a tad like BATTLE ROYALE, but once you get a look at the new preview below, you’ll see Miike and company are exploring a different variety of student-slaying.

Here’s the roughly-tranlated synopsis:

Shun Takahata (Sota Fukushi) is an ordinary high school student leading a boring life. His life long friend is Ichika Akimoto (Hirona Yamazaki).

One day, a teacher’s head explodes in class. Shun Takahata and his classmates are forced to play a game of death without knowing who, why or how.

AS THE GODS WILL opens on November 15th in Japan; hopefully it will expand far and wide soon after.
