New look at Robocop and his old-fashioned holster

We’ve seen plenty of images from Jose Padilha’s ROBOCOP remake, but this one gives us a new perspective on the fellow: check out Robo’s old-fashioned holster in the below photo! The gun doesn’t issue from his thigh anymore, apparently. Interesting choice they have made. I like it.

Perhaps you have noticed this before, but we sure haven’t. (Although there’s the off-chance that this is just “standing in” for something a little more snazzy.)

In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. ROBOCOP stars Joel Kinnaman, Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jay Baruchel, Michael Keaton, Jackie Earle Haley and Jennifer Ehle. It is set to open on February 7, 2014.
