Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites to play a prince in Disney’s Maleficent

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Adding a little Aussie flavor to the British dominated MALEFICENT is Disney, tapping youngster Brenton Thwaites as the prince in the live-action take on the evil witch. Angelina Jolie (below) plays the title role, likely a key reason we feel even a modicum of obligation to report on it.

Brenton (above), who has a Lifetime BLUE LAGOON movie out next month, also joins Juno Temple, Miranda Richardson, Kenneth Cranham , Sam Riley, Elle Fanning and Sharlto Copley in the Robert Stromberg adaptation. Linda Woolverton, a Dinsey stalwart, wrote the script.

Filming this summer in London:

MALEFICENT tells the backstory of Sleeping Beauty and why the evil fairy Maleficent cursed Princess Aurora in the first place.

See Angie go evil March 14, 2013.
