Last month Andy was right here telling us about some potential casting in Jose Padilha upcoming ROBOCOP reboot. I know you guys remember this because that potential casting included Edward Norton and Sean Penn! But alas those were just rumors and nothing is yet to come from them…

One casting announcement that isn’t a rumor is coming at us from The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog today! Apparently the great Gary Oldman has signed on to star in the film opposite Joel Kinnaman. Oldman (right) will play Norton, the scientist who creates Robocop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation. Nice!

Production on ROBOCOP is slated to start this September in Toronto with a Summer 2013 release date being eyed. You know what that means, right? More ROBOCOP updates should be rolling our way soon! As always as soon as anything new comes our way we’ll pass that shite right along to all of you.
