Absentia’s Mike Flanagan sets sights on a haunted mirror with new film Oculus

Who’s seen Mike Flanagan’s horror flick ABSENTIA? What did you think?

Well, it seems Intrepid Pictures liked it enough to go ahead and produce Flanagan’s follow up film OCULUS, which he co-wrote with Jeff Howard. From what I understand, the picture is about a haunted mirror. Check it…

OCULUS centers on a murder that left two children orphans with authorities charging the brother while his sister believed that the true culprit was a haunted antique mirror. Now completely rehabilitated and in his twenties, the brother is ready to move on but his sister is determined to prove that the haunted mirror was responsible for destroying their family.

Yup, a haunted mirror. Fancy that. Hey, at least it’s not another unnecessary remake. Disney is making a movie about their haunted house attraction, which of course has mirrors wracked with phantoms.

As for OCULUS, production is slated to begin in late summer. Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans are producing and fully financing, with Focus Features dealing internationally.
