It’s been quite a while since we’ve heaved an update your way regarding the Brazilian post-apocalyptic indie BEYOND THE GRAVE (PORTO DOS MORTOS) – almost two years, in fact. The Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro-directed film has been making its way around the globe on the festival circuit, so at least it’s been keeping busy.

The film recently picked up awards for Best Horror at the AZ Underground and Audience’s Choice at the Montevideo Fantastico. It was also a selection last year for the Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano (Cuba). Next month it will be heading to the Chicago Latino FF. (For ticket info on that, check out this page.)

The awesome-sounding synopsis: In a devastated post-apocalyptic world where the rules of reality are transformed by magic and madness, a vengeful police officer searches for a possessed serial killer in a battle of the not-so-good versus absolute evil.

For all of your BEYOND THE GRAVE needs, head on over to its official Facebook page. Also be sure to give the trailer a peek below.
