British publication The Daily Mail got their hands on the first official production still from THE GIRL, the BBC-produced film that takes a look at the tumultuous relationship between Alfred Hitchcock and his BIRDS leading lady, Tippi Hedren.
As you can see in the image above, Toby Jones makes a surprisingly convincing Hitch, while Sienna Miller is nearly a dead ringer for Hedren. Take a look at a photo of the real Hitchcock and Hedren below to compare.
Hedren is actually an adviser on the film, and while she seems to be pro-Sienna Miller, and supports the project in general, she expressed some reservations about how she’ll be portrayed…
“I am thrilled Sienna is playing me. She is terrific for the part. If I have one reservation about the film it is that I worry they will not portray me as as strong a character as I was – and still am. I had to be extremely strong to fight off Mr Hitchcock. He was so insistent and obsessive but I was an extremely strong young woman and there is no way he was going to get the better of me.’

THE GIRL’s plot: Alfred Hitchcock (Toby Jones) was at the height of his fame and creativity when, in 1962, he chose an unknown fashion model to star in his most ambitious film – The Birds. But as he sculpted Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller) into the perfect Hitchcock blonde of his imagination, he became obsessed with the impossible dream of winning the real woman’s love. His failure arguably destroyed both of their careers.
