Would vampires need to book a flight just like the rest of us to get around? The answer is yes according to NIGHT WINGS, a thriller that revolves around the idea that even a bloodsucking Count thinks the red-eye is the smart way to travel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NIGHT WINGS, which is in pre-production, has been acquired by Ember Entertainment; Ember has taken North American distribution rights and will handle international sales on the title. Canadian production companies Lucid Dreams and Julijette Inc. are producing, while visual effects vet Dusan Strugar sits in the director’s chair. The screenplay was penned by Paul Birkett, author of memorable titles like ICE TWISTERS and WEATHER WARS.

The plot for NIGHT WINGS:

12-year-old Brandon, on a red-eye flight over the Atlantic, becomes convinced that vampires are onboard his flight.

In fact, he’s right: Count Radu and his clan are traveling from Romania to New York to attend ‘The Conclave,’ a celebratory gala for Vampires around the world.

The only passenger who believes Brandon is a vampire hunter seeking revenge for the loss of his son to the Radu family a long time ago.

I can actually dig that concept (even though the very idea of vampires flying across the globe to attend a vampire convention is just a teeny bit hilarious); I’m anxious how to see how this pans out.

No cast has been announced yet.
