Larry Fishburne & Kevin Zegers set to star in eco-cannibal film The Colony

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Wow…where the hell’s this movie been since last writing about it in May of 2010? Languishing in development hell perhaps?

Whatever the reason, it looks like production on the eco-sci-fi-thriller THE COLONY is forging ahead. Not only that, the first cast members include some pretty formidable names. According to THR, Laurence Fishburne and Kevin Zegers are nearing deals to join THE COLONY, which is being directed by Jeff Renfroe (ONE POINT O). Word is filming will take place through March 30th in Toronto, under a $16 million budget.

Co-written with Renfroe by Patrick Tarr, Pascal Trottier and Svet Rouskov:

THE COLONY is a sci-fi thriller about a group of underground survivors after the next Ice Age fending off an invasion of feral cannibals.

Sounds pretty f*ckin’ sweet to me. Arctic cannibals are something I can’t recall seeing on film, zombie flicks notwithstanding. For that, and the inclusion of Larry the Fish…THE COLONY is definitely something I can look forward to with fervor.

How about you?
