Ready for more demons? If not, too bad, because there’s no getting exorcising the highly-popular possession genre.

The latest project on the pulpit is an untitled exorcism drama from Cristian Mungiu (pictured), who won a ton of awards – including the Palme d’Or at Cannes – for his Romanian drama 4 MONTHS, 3 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS. Mungiu is teaming up with distribution/sales company Wild Bunch on the project; Wild Bunch will rev up pre-sales in Berlin and then Cannes. (Incidentally, Wild Bunch had a real winner on its hands at the last Cannes Film Festival with a little black & white movie called THE ARTIST).

Set in an Orthodox convent in Romania, the story centers on a young woman’s descent into madness, her subsequent exorcism and the police investigation it sparks.

This is Mungiu’s first feature film since 4 DAYS; this new one is said to have elements of that flick, but with a more intense twist… We can likely expect to learn additional details on this intriguing picture in the coming months.
