Over the last year or so, we’ve been hearing about numerous spins on Mary Shelley’s FRANKENSTEIN being put in the pipeline. The closest to arriving is Stuart Beattie’s I, FRANKENSTEIN, starring Aaron Eckhart and Yvonne Strahovski, but there are also versions from Shawn Levy, Matt Reeves, Guillermo del Toro in various stages of development – as well as an NBC series and Tim Burton’s FRANKENWEENIE. (Oh, and let’s not forget Danny Boyle’s recent stage adaptation!) And that ain’t all, folks.
Screen Daily gives us a brief update on yet another project dealing with “the monster”, this one a Greek production called FRANKENSTEIN: A DEATH ODYSSEY. In the film, from director Costas Zapas, a young reporter investigates the legend of Frankenstein while a performance of the story is put on in her home city.
Greek production company Minus Pictures is currently readying the film, which will be an English-language offering. No cast has been revealed yet.
