The found footage genre will get another look with SINISTER, Summit Entertainment’s late summer horror flick that comes from the producers of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and the director of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. A mixed bag behind the scenes, sure, but in front of the camera is the sturdy Ethan Hawke, who is on display in these two new stills from the flick. It’s quite clear that Hawke’s got his hands on some disturbing material; I guess that’ll teach him to move into a murder house…

The SINISTER synopsis:
A true crime novelist (Ethan Hawke) struggling to find his next big story, moves his family into a house where the horrific murder of an entire family took place. But after finding a box of home videos in which other families are also brutally murdered, his investigation leads him to a supernatural entity that may be placing his own family in harm’s way.

Obviously, the entire movie won’t be of the found footage variety, so those of you who are completely sick of the subgenre shouldn’t write this one off yet.

SINISTER comes out on AUGUST 24th.
