David Yates is going the trippy psychological route in Your Voice In My Head

Well, with movies like MELANCHOLIA and MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE…specifically the female turns yielded in such…why not keep with the psychological terror?!?

Screen Daily is reporting that HARRY POTTER director David Yates is lining up a new psychological thriller called YOUR VOICE IN MY HEAD, which he will adapt from Emma Forrest’s novel of the same name. Forrest also wrote the script for the Ruby Films production, which means not much should get lost in translation. Alison Owen is producing, with funds secured from the BFI. Warner Bros. is also partially funding the flick.

Set in London, New York and Istanbul – here’s what Yates had to say about YOUR VOICE IN MY HEAD:

“It’s about a young woman who self harms and she visits this psychiatrist who helps her to learn to live again. It’s got very heightened, odd moments in it that are slightly trippy.”

Like I said, sounds like MARTHA or MELANCHOLIA. Even so, I’m down with it. I think this is one of the strongest years for woman in film (Streep, Close, Dunst, Olsen, Swinton, etc. etc.), let’s hope more films like this are made with the opportunity for such female talent to shine.
