Indie distribution company W2 Media (THE WOMAN, THE THEATER BIZARRE) is trying to bring oddball director Tony Kaye onto its thriller ATTACHMENT, reports Variety. The movie, written by actor Christopher Denham, is targeting a spring 2012 start.

ATTACHMENT centers on a married woman’s one night stand with a student coming back to haunt her when the lover begins to date her daughter and stalk her family.

Sounds like the plot of a cheesy Screen Gems movie, but with Kaye at the helm, it very well might have more depth than is hinted at in the rote synopsis.

Kaye, an accomplished music video director, is probably best known as the helmer of AMERICAN HISTORY X, a film that had a very rocky production. Kaye recently directed a drama called DETACHMENT, which stars Adrien Brody, Bryan Cranston and Christina Hendricks (pictured below). That flick is due to come out in February. (And no, ATTACHMENT is in no way related to DETACHMENT.)
