More aliens suck up human energy in third trailer for The Darkest Hour

To all the Christmastime filmgoers who could give a hooker’s ass about SHERLOCK HOLMES and 3D CHIPMUNKS, or perhaps want to see something a bit more fun than THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, it looks like THE DARKEST HOUR is the film for you. Not buying it? Cop a peek at the ridiculous good time the third trailer for the film offers below.

Starring Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella and Rachael Taylor:

THE DARKEST HOUR follows five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. The 3D action-thriller highlights classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing special effects from the minds of visionary filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov (WANTED, NIGHT WATCH) and director Chris Gorak.

While I do believe THE DARKEST HOUR will be fun and somewhat fresh take on the alien invasion subgenre, there are a couple of things I noticed in the trailer. One, the slowed down bullet-shot, a la WANTED (THE MATRIX really, but Timur Bekmambetoc produced this film, directed WANTED)…and two, how lame does the human detection of the aliens look? That shite’s like Atari graphics. WTF?

THE DARKEST HOUR strikes Christmas day.
