A few weeks ago we wrote about sales company Content Film’s acquisition of LOVELY MOLLY, Eduardo Sanchez’s (THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT) supernatural/psychological thriller about a woman under attack from a mysterious, malicious presence. At the time a deal was being worked out for the film’s domestic distribution; today we bring news of that deal: Image Entertainment has obtained the US rights to LOVELY MOLLY, and plans on giving the movie a wide theatrical release. No date has been announced yet, but one can presume it will be sometime next year.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: Newlyweds Molly (Gretchen Lodge) and Tim (Johnny Lewis) move into Molly’s deceased father’s house in the countryside. An ex-addict with a deeply troubled past, Molly is strong in her new life of recovery. Unexplained disturbances in the night unnerve the couple, and when her husband goes away for business, Molly is left in a house that holds many painful memories. Her isolation is soon shattered by a malicious presence that unleashes a physical and mental assault. As she struggles to regain footing in her simple existence, Molly’s grip on reality begins to waver. Her erratic behaviour is a warning sign to her friends and family, whose interventions drive her further into solitary torment and spur a deep, dark infidelity within her.

Mark Ward, Vice President of Acquisitions at Image, had this to say: “We are thrilled to release Eduardo’s film which marks a return and evolution to the genre that he created. We look forward to partnering with Haxan and Amber to maximize the truly robust transmedia marketing campaign they’ve put together to make the film a huge success.”

“The whole team is excited about working with Image to release LOVELY MOLLY into theaters across the country,”
commented producers Robin Cowie and Jane Fleming. “Their entrepreneurial thinking and robust infrastructure give us the perfect platform to bring our film to the widest audience possible.”
