You guys remember us telling you all about a sci-fi flick heading our way called IRON SKY? It was basically about a bunch of Nazis from space. Well don’t worry if you’ve forgotten about this one because you’re about to get reacquainted!
Apparently the Chinese games company Ziiso dug the flick so much that they decided to put together an iPad game based on the sci-fi romp. Only problem is they didn’t have permission from the show’s Finnish producers. Uh-oh, that can’t be good, right? Wrong. Now at first the producers did complain to Apple about the unlicensed game, and Apple promptly removed it, but then the filmmakers did a 180 and went and hired Ziiso to put together a legit IRON SKY game for the iPad. Guess they weren’t that pissed about the whole situation, eh?
IRON SKY director Timo Vuorensola weighed in on the situation: “The people at Ziiso apologized to the ‘Iron Sky’ team in an interview conducted by the largest newspaper in Finland, Helsingin Sanomat. The apology and Ziiso’s willingness to correct their error convinced me that we could co-operate with them on the game project. We are currently negotiating with Ziiso about revamping the game and publishing it as part of the official ‘Iron Sky’ merchandise.”
As did producer Tero Kaukomaa: “They say that attack is the best form of defense, but instead of a costly legal battle, we decided to try to strike a deal. If this succeeds, everybody wins.”
So what is this thing about? Check it:
Towards the end of World War II the staff of SS officer Hans Kammler made a significant breakthrough in anti-gravity. From a secret base built in the Antarctic, the first Nazi spaceships were launched in late ‘45 to found the military base Schwarze Sonne (Black Sun) on the dark side of the Moon. This base was to build a powerful invasion fleet and return to take over the Earth once the time was right.
The year is 2018. Things are looking good for Renate on the Nazi moon base. For all her life, she has worked hard to be a productive member of the Fourth Reich, and now, her dreams are coming true. Renate is to travel to Earth on a secret mission with her fiancé, the handsome and high-ranking Klaus, a true Nazi down to his jackboots.
Their mission: to assassinate the president of the United States, Jenna Bush. Renate finds Earth not to be the pit of depravity Klaus had described. Suddenly, bombing this world back to the stone age doesn’t seem like a good idea at all. But the Nazi invasion is on its way, and the world is goose-stepping towards its doom.
So once the dust settles and this thing is available and ready to rock you can probably expect to kill a massive amount of Space Nazis! Who wouldn’t want to spend hours doing that?! It’s got loads of fun written all over it! We’ll keep an eye on this one and will let you all know when this shite becomes available.
