As we reported last week, IFC Films has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to BURKE & HARE. Release details were unclear at the time, but we now know that the film will be available on VOD on August 5 before opening in limited theaters on September 9. You can peep the new IFC-branded trailer below.

The horror/comedy is directed by John Landis (AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON) and written by Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft. It stars Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Isla Fisher (below), Tom Wilkinson, Tim Curry, Reece Shearsmith, Hugh Bonneville, Allan Corduner, Georgia King, Bill Bailey, Stephen Merchant, Jessica Hynes and Christopher Lee.

BURKE & HARE s a comedic take on the true story of the 1828 Edinburgh body-snatchers William Burke (Pegg) and William Hare (Serkis). These two Irish entrepreneurs discover that a dead body can fetch a hefty price when the demands of the leading medical professors Dr. Knox (Wilkinson) and Dr. Monroe (Curry) reach beyond that of the local supply.
