Guillermo del Toro is the man of a million projects, and now he’s adding yet another to his plate. Producer Denise Di Novi (EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS) revealed to STYD that she’s working with del Toro to develop a new take on BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.

No word yet on the nature of del Toro’s involvement. It’s safe to say that he will serve as a producer with Di Novi, but he could have a hand in writing the script, or he could even sit in the director’s chair if he has the time in his busy schedule.

The project is being developed as vehicle for Emma Watson. Now that the HARRY POTTER franchise is done, working with del Toro could be a good career move for her. One thing is for sure: there’s no way this new take on the classic story can be worse than BEASTLY.
