We’ve learned of title changes for a couple of anticipated genre flicks. Sony Screen Gems has decided on UNDERWORLD AWAKENING for the name of the fourth film in the series. It was previously known as UNDERWORLD: NEW DAWN.

Meanwhile, Sony’s ELYSIUM is said to have been re-titled BAJA DUNES, according to Production Weekly. This has not been officially announced and may just be a cover-up production title.

UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING is directed by the duo of Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein and written by John Hlavin, J. Michael Straczynski and Allison Burnett. Kate Beckinsale (below), Michael Ealy and India Eisley star. It will hit theaters on January 20, 2012.

Vampire warrioress Selene escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

BAJA DUNES, as it’s being called, is written and directed by Neill Blomkamp. It stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Alice Braga, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura and Diego Luna. It’s due out on March 1, 2012. No synopsis for this one yet, but it’s a sci-fi flick that involves aliens.
