We regret to inform you that actress Dana Wynter passed away on Thursday as the result of congestive heart failure at Ojai Valley Community Hospital in California. She was 79.

Wynter has over 40 film and television credits to her name, but she is best known for portraying the female lead, Becky Driscoll, in the 1956 classic INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. Her other credits include 1970’s AIRPORT, 1960’s SINK THE BISMARK, 1959’s SHAKE HANDS WITH THE DEVIL and 1957’s SOMETHING OF VALUE.

Wynter was born Dagmar Winter on June 8, 1931 in Berlin, German before growing up in England and later South Africa. She released a book, Other People, Other Places: Memories of Four Continents, in 2005. She was also an animal rights advocate.
