Alright these HUNGER GAMES ‘District’ castings are getting out of control. I suppose the only positive thing about these ongoing announcements is that they’ve got to stop sometime right? …. Right?!
Anyway today we’ve got word on not two, not four but six new names joining the film as ‘Districts 7, 8 and 9.’ So who’re the lucky youngsters? A bunch of kids you’ve never heard of… just like all the other ones. But just for sh*ts and giggles, here are the names:
Sam Ly and Leigha Hancock tap District 7, which specializes in lumber and paper. Samuel Tan and Mackenzie Lintz will make up District 8, which specializes in textiles and has at least one factory that produces Peacekeeper uniforms. And lastly Imanol Yepez-Frias and Annie Thurman will be supporting District 9, whose specialty is unknown.
Hey, don’t get me wrong, I’m all about giving new names a chance in this crazy business but when one film is sporting over 20 new kid actors in key roles it’s a little overwhelming. Here’s hoping it comes together nicely.
THE HUNGER GAMES is set in the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal and terrifying fight to the death – televised for all of Panem to see.
Jennifer Lawrence (below), Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Paula Malcolmson, Willow Shields and Wes Bentley make up the bulk of the HUNGER GAMES cast for director Gary Ross while the District stars include Ly, Hancock, Tan, Lintz, Yepez-Frias, Thurman, Leven Rambin, Jack Quaid, Ian Nelson, Kalia Prescott, Dayo Okeniyi, Amandla Stenberg, Ethan Jamieson, Tara Macken, Ashton Moio, Kara Petersen, Chris Mark and Jacqueline Emerson. Phew.
Sporting a March 23, 2012 release date, THE HUNGER GAMES is set to start filming in a few weeks with at least three key characters and two more ‘Districts’ yet to be cast! You know what that means right? More HUNGER GAMES updates coming our way any day so be sure to check back soon for that!
