The trailer for Fox Searchlight’s MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE has just hit, and boy does it look good. A quiet mystery thriller, the film was a hit at Sundance (it won the Best Director award for Sean Durkin) and is scheduled to play Cannes later this month; it’s headed toward a nationwide release later in the year.

Starring Elizabeth Olsen, Hugh Dancy and John Hawkes, the film breaks down like this:
Haunted by painful memories and increasing paranoia, a damaged woman struggles to re-assimilate with her family after fleeing an abusive cult.

Even though the film features a creepy cult, don’t go into this expecting cheap scares and blood. Looks much more interesting than that…

MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE opens on October 7th. Now watch the trailer below!
