Once again demonstrating he has his finger on the pulse of the younger generation, J.J. Abrams continues to cleverly market his new summer film SUPER 8. Dude’s the master of viral promoting, and now he’s wisely taken to videogames to expand his audience.

Now I’m no gamer, but apparently this PORTAL 2 release is quite a big deal. Well, Abrams knows this too, and so he buried a cool little interactive trailer for SUPER 8 in the “extras” section of PORTAL 2. Again, this guy seems to push all the right buttons.

What you’ll find below is a user walking us through the interactive SUPER 8 trailer. We can’t be sure if any or all of the footage will be used in the actual film, but it does place us in the infamous train-wreck that springboards the story. After the wreckage, we’re left in the ruinous aftermath where we ultimately see the familiar shot of the train compartment from the official film trailer. All cool stuff!

In theaters June 8th, SUPER 8 is set in the summer of 1979, where a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

SUPER 8 star Amanda Michalka!
