It’s the End of the World, Lars Von Trier style in MELANCHOLIA, the notorious director’s follow-up to ANTICHRIST (which was Cabin in the Woods Horror, Lars Von Trier style). We’ve got the first preview for you right here, and truth be told, it’s fairly compelling, and for a little while looks as though it might be Von Trier’s most “conventional” movie to date. But then Kirsten Dunst’s fingers start shooting electricity and we’re firmly back in the avant garde director’s wheelhouse.
The film, which is described as a “psychological disaster movie” on its official Facebook page, stars Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, John Hurt, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgård, Alexander Skarsgård, Brady Corbet, Jesper Christensen and Udo Kier. Damn impressive group right there. Its Danish release is MAY 26th; it doesn’t have a US release date just yet, but I’m guessing that will change next month after the Cannes Film Festival.
