We’re in the home stretch: SCREAM 4 comes out on APRIL 15th, just over one week from now. The closer we’ve gotten to it, the more stories we’ve heard about the screenplay being a mess, so there’s certainly some trepidation to go along with the excitement. I’m certainly curious to see how the film has turned out, but I won’t pretend that my hopes are not extremely high.
The new issue of Entertainment Weekly, which hits stands tomorrow but has been given a sneak peek on the magazine’s official site, has got none other than Ghostface on the cover, along with the words “The Bloody Battle over Scream 4”. Obviously, they’re not going to shy away from the project’s troubled history.
In the main article, Wes Craven addresses the numerous script changes that occurred daily: “I always prided myself on coming to the set with a shot list. But quite often we’d literally get pages the night before, sometimes the day of. That part was very stressful.”
Kevin Williamson also weighs in, talking about the tension he experienced with producer Bob Weinstein. “Oh, I got in a big fight with Bob. We got into a massive fight creatively, and we hugged it out and then we moved on.”
For his part, Weinstein says: “I think the only real fight was not creative, but, ‘We gotta get this goin’! It’s a train. It’s moving.’ From my point of view, that was our only source of tension.”
