The last update we got on XERXES, the prequel to Zack Snyder’s 300, had Snyder potentially being replaced by Guy Ritchie. Now I don’t know how well that sat with all of you but today’s news is saying something a little different.
You see MTV recently had a chance to sit down with 300 producer Mark Canton and asked what the deal was with this prequel. Not only did Canton say Snyder was still planning to direct this thing but apparently it’s going by a new title now, which has yet to be decided. The important thing to know is this thing will no longer be called XERXES. I don’t know about you guys but I’m digging the news. XERXES, while obviously meaning a lot to the story, was just not sitting right with me. And I’m sure I’m not the only one.
“It’s been worth the wait. You know, that group of people [who worked on ‘300’], we’re really a family. That’s part of what made that movie . . . so gratifying. Rather than doing the bad sequel we . . . took our time. And now I think we have something that is going to be fantastic. … Soon we’ll know what we’re doing. But I don’t see us waiting two years to make the movie and Zack [Snyder] is very much at the helm of it at the same time.”
So there’s what Mr. Canton had to say. Sounds all good to this schmuck! What says you guys? You liking what Canton is spinning or are you going to wait until we actually see some progress on this thing before getting your hopes up? Spit some bullets below and let us know as we await more news regarding the UNTITLED 300 PREQUEL.
