Bet you didn’t see this one coming. According to the folks over at /Film Rupert Wyatt’s RISE OF THE APES has just scored itself a title change. Well that’s always fun, especially when this title change is coming off the news that the film’s release date has moved. Looks like this one is changing quite a bit.

But alas I bet you’re all wondering what the new title is going to be, right? Well in case you didn’t read the title of this article, let me tell you: RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. Alright then. Contrary to the length of the new title, I’m digging it. With the new title it feels like this film is now more of a part of the franchise, no? What do you guys think? You digging the new title? Be sure to hit us with your thoughts below!

Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES stars James Franco, Freida Pinto (below), Andy Serkis, Tom Felton, Brian Cox and John Lithgow. It’s set to hit theaters everywhere on August 5th with the first trailer expected to drop April 15th.
