It was only 24 hours ago that Alex hit you all with the news that Ben Wheatley’s KILL LIST was turning heads at SXSW and was expected to make a sale any minute. Well that minute has come and gone!
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Business blog none other than IFC Midnight has snatched up the North American rights to KILL LIST, beating out Magnolia Pictures. This pick-up comes after KILL LIST’s successful viewings at SXSW, one of which included a beer shotgunning contest. How can this shite not sell, right? Scope out what Sundance Selects/IFC Films president Jonathan Sehring had to say regarding the pick-up:
“Our team was blown away by Kill List. It is a relentless, stylish, brilliantly directed journey into darkness that confirms Ben Wheatley as a major director. This is a film that is destined to be discussed for years and we are honored to begin the conversation with audiences across the country.”
Sounds good to me! KILL LIST comes from a script by Wheatley and Amy Jump and stars Neil Maskell, Michael Smiley and MyAnna Buring.
