Earlier this month I told you all about a potentially twisted re-telling of the classic fairytale JACK AND THE BEANSTALK coming our way from director Bryan Singer. You remember that? The project was called JACK THE GIANT KILLER and at the time we learned that Nicholas Hoult had joined the project as the titular ‘Jack.’
Well here we are a couple weeks later and it seems we’ve got a much bigger name circling the project. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog none other than Ewan McGregor is gearing up to join the feature as ‘the leader of the king’s elite guard, who helps fight giants.’ You can’t really go wrong with McGregor (above) now can you?
Jack the Giant Killer is a scary revisionist take on the Jack and the Beanstalk mythology and follows a farmer who leads an expedition into the giants’ kingdom to rescue a kidnapped princess.
Along with Hoult and McGregor the film is also set to star Bill Nighy, Stanley Tucci and John Kassir. Now mind you McGregor isn’t a done deal yet but it’s just a matter of time at this point. JACK THE GIANT KILLER has a late March start date secured in London.
What about the princess? Well according to Heat Vision two names are in contention for the role: Adelaide Kane and Eleanor Tomlinson. I suppose it’s a complete toss up as to who will score the roll but you can bet when that news crosses our desk we’ll be sure to pass it along to all of you!
