Nope, zombies aren’t going anywhere, folks – unless the machines have something to say about it.

In an article over at Deadline.com we learn of a new undead epic being prepared by Sony called INHERIT THE EARTH, which is based on the IDW comic ZOMBIES VS. ROBOTS. JT Petty (THE BURROWERS) wrote the screenplay and the project is set up with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes shingle that we all know and love so well. Circle of Confusion and IDW (which also brought us COWBOYS VS. ALIENS – which is unrelated) are co-producing.

According to IDW’s official site, the story focuses on a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies that has only one chance at recovery—a team of robots that must protect and clone a lone surviving human baby. They just need to do this amidst the endless hordes of zombies who have been driven rabid by their frustration at inedible bots and their lust to eat the one living brain left on the planet.

No more info is available just yet, but we’ll of course keep a close eye on this peculiar title… (It’s kind of hard not to love the “lust to eat the one living brain left on the planet” angle, don’t you agree?)
