Look out, vamps – it’s Hobo with a Stake!

In some news that’s bound to make everyone pee their panties in excitement, it’s been reported by ComingSoon.it that Dario Argento has cast Rutger Hauer in his 3D adaptation of DRACULA. The site gets its news from the European Film Market in Berlin, so I’m guessing Argento and his producers are making some waves there right now.

Gabriele Lavia (Argento’s INFERNO and DEEP RED) is also evidently circling a role.

This is pretty awesome. Though I’m always skeptical when it comes to Argento (especially lately), there’s no doubt that this could be a match made in lunatic heaven. It should be quite interesting to see who gets the Dracula gig; will it be an established vet like Hauer, or someone a little more obscure?

Shooting on DRACULA 3D begins in Budapest on MAY 16th (despite the fact that it was originally scheduled to be underway already). The film most likely won’t see the light of day until 2012, but we’ll keep you updated if we hear something!
