Back in January, we heard from director Howard J. Ford on the distribution prospects for the zombie epic he and his brother Jonathon directed called THE DEAD; at the time, Ford claimed he turned down a multitude of offers to send the flick straight to DVD, instead opting to focus on getting a theatrical roll-out for his horror opus. Thankfully, it looks as though that’s finally happened.

According to Screen Daily, Global Cinema Distribution has landed the picture and will distribute in North America. The release date remains to be seen.

Additionally, Anchor Bay Starz UK has taken UK rights, MIG Film Group acquired the film for Germany and Hopscotch will distribute in Australia… It looks like this is just the beginning for THE DEAD, which garnered solid reviews when it premiered at Fantastic Fest last year. Naturally, we’ll let you know when some solid release dates are announced. For now, refresh yourself with this creepy undead nightmare by watching the trailer below.
