One flick I can’t help but be excited for is John Carpenter’s THE WARD. I know the flick has been scoring a mixed batch of reviews lately, most of which lean towards the negative side… But I still can’t help but hold out a little hope. Come one… It’s John f*cking Carpenter! And Amber Heard always satisfies. ALWAYS!
With that being said I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s excited to hear that ARC Entertainment and XLrator Media Partnership have just snatched up the US rights to THE WARD at this year’s European Film Market. Nice! To be honest I don’t care about the who, what or when.. I’m just glad this thing has a buyer.
Kristen (Heard), a beautiful but troubled young woman, who finds herself bruised, cut, drugged, and held against her will in a remote ward of a Psychiatric Hospital. She is completely disoriented, with no idea why she was brought to this place and no memory of her life before being admitted. All she knows is that she isn’t safe.
The other patients in the ward, four equally disturbed young women, offer no answers, and Kristen quickly realizes things are not as they seem. The air is heavy with secrets, and at night, when the hospital is dark and foreboding, she hears strange and frightening sounds. It appears they are not alone.
One-by-one the other girls begin to disappear and Kristen must find a way out of this hellish place before she, too, becomes a victim. As she struggles to escape, she will uncover a truth far more dangerous and horrifying than anyone could have imagined.
Along with the gorgeous Amber Heard (below), the flick also stars Danielle Panabaker, Lyndsy Fonseca, Mika Boorem, Jared Harris, Mamie Gummer, Laura-Leigh, Sydney Sweeney, Sean Cooke, Milos Milicevic and Jillian Kramer. Now obviously there’s still no word on a release date for THE WARD but considering this update today I’m sure we’ll have a date for you guys sooner rather than later! As always be sure to keep it here for anything else we hear regarding THE WARD.
