Well folks it seems David Slade just can’t get away from vampires. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog it seems Phoenix Pictures may have finally found a director for THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER in the talented vampire expert David Slade!

Sure the guy directed one of those TWILIGHT movies but let’s not condem him for it. He went out there and made a nice fat paycheck, can you blame him? We probably would’ve done the same exact thing. Truthfully it’s just nice to finally see this bad boy rolling again. Bragi Schut’s script has been finished for 10 years with various directors attached at one point or another. Here’s hoping Slade sticks!

Demeter was the name of the ship that transported Dracula from Transylvania to London in Bram Stoker’s classic tale. In that novel, it washes up on the shores of England, tattered and broken, with one raving mad survivor. THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER places the voyage center stage in a tale that is reminiscent of the first movie in the Alien franchise, in which a crew is slaughtered one-by-one by a mysterious passenger.

Now mind you nothing is set in stone just yet – Hell the movie itself still needs to secure financing, but Slade’s attachment should help that move along. Right now Noomi Rapace and Sir Ben Kingsley are set to star in the film though the lead role has yet to be cast. It’s also possible Rapace (below) and Kingsley won’t be available once this thing finally gets rolling. So we’ve still got a ways to go before this one happens.

Not a bad update right? As always we’ll be keeping a close eye on THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER and any updates that roll our way. Be sure to keep it here for more as we hear it!
