Here’s the full-length trailer for Robin Hardy’s THE WICKER TREE, the follow-up to his immortal classic THE WICKER MAN. (And please, if you’ve only ever seen the laughable Nicolas Cage version, remedy that pronto.) It’s not a great trailer, but it provides us with a peek at some of what the movie will be offering, which includes plenty of naked bodies, creepy villagers, religious proselytizing and, naturally, the hint of a climactic sacrifice. There’s also a helping of the naughty dark humor that made the first film that much freakier…

The official synopsis: Young Christians Beth and Steve, a gospel singer and her cowboy boyfriend, leave Texas to preach door-to-door in Scotland . When, after initial abuse, they are welcomed with joy and elation to Tressock, the border fiefdom of Sir Lachlan Morrison, they assume their hosts simply want to hear more about Jesus. How innocent and wrong they are.

We’re still awaiting a release date on this one, but hopefully this trailer indicates that we’re in for a slew of forthcoming WICKER TREE news and goodies. Let us pray to our various gods…
