We just got word a couple days ago that Benjamin Walker had scored the role of our 16th US President in Timur Bekmambetov’s ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER and here I am today with word on who might be stepping in to play the President’s mentor.

As if the title of this article doesn’t give it away, Deadline New York are stating that the great Joaquin Phoenix is in talks to join the film as ‘Henry, a mythic, ageless figure who turns Lincoln into an axe-throwing expert slayer of vampires.’ The actor recently met with producers and word has it if he wants the role, it’s his.

So what do you guys think? Would you like to see Phoenix (above) finally make a return to acting in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER? Sure it’s not the talented actor’s usual role but come on… It’s Joaquin Phoenix! Hopefully we’ll get word soon on what Phoenix decides to do.

When Abraham Lincoln was nine years old, his mother died from an ailment called the “milk sickness.” Only later did he learn that his mother’s deadly affliction was actually the work of a local vampire, seeking to collect a debt owed by Lincoln’s father. When Abe learned the truth, he vowed revenge and kept one passion hidden throughout his life: the brutal elimination of all vampires. His valiant, bloody fight against the undead was all but lost to history, until Grahame-Smith stumbled upon the secret journal of Abraham Lincoln.

Using the journal as his guide, Seth reconstructs Lincoln’s life story and uncovers the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation. You don’t know Abe. Honest.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER already has a release date of June 22, 2012 pegged so expect more from the project very soon!
