As this comes from those gossip mongrels over at the NY Post, please take this with a grain of salt. However, as we’ve recently been in the spirit of spitting out some casting rumors for Ron Howard’s THE DARK TOWER, why not toss one more out?

The Post is reporting that Naomie Harris (28 DAYS LATER, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 2 & 3) is being considered for the female lead in the first film adaptation of Stephen King’s epic series. Although I’m no scholar on the novels, I know that one of the lead characters is a young African American woman named Susannah Dean (pictured right), so I assume that’s the role Harris would be given. (However, according to Wikipedia, Dean doesn’t enter the picture until the second book.)

Harris’ name joins those of Viggo Mortensen and Javier Bardem, both of whom are evidently in the running for the lead role, Roland. Should be interesting to see if any of this pans out; Howard and crew have time, though. THE DARK TOWER is scheduled to come out until MAY 18, 2013.
