We’ve been following the progress of Joe Carnahan’s follow-up to THE A-TEAM for quite a while now. THE GREY, a man-vs-nature survival thriller, was set to reunite Carnahan with his A-TEAM star Bradley Cooper, but that fell through. Not willing to let that stop him, Carnahan simply plucked another actor from that flick, Liam Neeson, and slipped him into the lead role. And now he’s ready to roll…

Deadline.com reports that THE GREY, which is an independent production, is finally moving forward next week. In addition to Neeson, the cast includes Dallas Roberts, James Badge Dale, Dermot Mulroney, Frank Grillo, Nonso Anozie, and Joe Anderson.

The flick follows a group of roughnecks left stranded by a plane crash right in the hunting zone of a pack of rogue wolves on the frozen Alaskan tundra.

Speaking about the film – and the titular predators – Carnahan said “The wolves have a territorial range of 300 miles, and they will run you out if you cross that. If you’re within 30 miles of their den as is the case here, they will try to kill you. It’s simple arithmetic, but it creates an opportunity for one of those man vs. nature movies I love like Deliverance and Touching The Void.”

Production on THE GREY begins next week in Vancouver, where it can get to 30 below in the winter. Good luck with that, gang!
