Jodie Foster joins Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium opposite Matt Damon

While we still know precious little about it, Neill Blomkamp’s ELYSIUM – his follow-up to DISTRICT 9, natch – is developing quite a nice cast. I guess there shouldn’t be much surprise that some of Hollywood’s finest want to work with the visionary helmer.

According to Deadline.com, Jodie Foster has signed on to star opposite Matt Damon and DISTRICT 9 star Sharlto Copley in the flick. Of course, there isn’t anything to report in regards to her character, although I think it’s a safe bet that she’ll be playing someone smart and potentially sassy.

Blomkamp wrote and will direct ELYSIUM for Media Rights Capital; the film still hasn’t even gone out to studios, as the parties want to set up a complete package before delivering the goods to potential distributors. So far, they’re off to a damn good start…
