One of the most anticipated genre flicks of next year has got to be John Gulager’s PIRANHA 3DD. Why you may ask? Well because the first film was easily one of the most anticipated of this past year and was a fun time all around. The fact that the sequel promises ‘more boobs, more blood and more sex’ slaps it atop a lot of Most Anticipated lists for this upcoming year I’m sure.
So with that in mind what could I be coming here today to tell you all? Well apparently one of the most popular characters from the first film, Ving Rhames’ deputy character, could be back battling those little bastards in PIRANHA 3DD! How is this possible considering Rhames was fish food in the first film? I’ll let Rhames himself spit it to you guys via an interview with Bloody-Disgusting:
“They’re talking about [it], because you don’t necessarily see me die – and even though I’m not in the film that much, people responded to my character. So that’s why they’re talking about doing something. But I think they’re writing it as we speak.”
Valid points all around. And let’s be serious for a moment… Does a tongue-in-cheek flick like PIRANHA 3DD really need much of an explanation for… well anything? No, I didn’t think so. PIRANHA 3DD will be splashing into theaters on September 16th so we should expect a lot more updates soon!
