Did “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon pass on the reboot?

Alright so we know there’s a BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER reboot on the way, whether we like it or not. That’s old news. We’ve also already heard what “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon and original ‘Buffy’ Kristy Swanson thought of this whole thing. What Mr. Whedon failed to mention though was that directing this reboot was his job for the taking.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog the job was offered to Whedon last year, when Buffy rightsholder Fran Rubel Kuzui and husband Kaz Kuzui started working on a reboot for Vertigo. Whedon chose to pass on the project, instead choosing to work on a little thing called THE AVENGERS. Good choice Mr. Whedon…

Can’t say it isn’t an interesting turn of events though. This thing isn’t even remotely in the beginning stages of production and I’m already finding myself wondering what a Whedon-directed reboot would’ve been like. I’m sure I’m not the only one either. Be sure to speculate below and keep it here for anything and everything BUFFY as it comes our way!
