Just last week we heard that none other than McG was eyeing the directing gig for the adaptation of graphic novel R.I.P.D.. Well folks you can rest easy tonight because it seems McG has decided to pass on R.I.P.D.. Thank you McG.
But the question remains: Who’s going to be directing R.I.P.D., which already has Ryan Reynolds signed on to star? If the LA Times are to believed that name might be Robert Schwentke! Now mind you this is far from a done deal, so take that for what it’s worth. According to the LA Times Schwentke and McG were two of the top names being eyed for the gig so McG’s withdrawl understandably leaves Schwentke as the front-runner! Does that mean he’s going to take the job? Time will tell.
Two cops, one recently dead and a gunslinger who’s been dead for hundreds of years, work on the Rest In Peace Department – which is the police department of the dead. And they basically…it takes place on a normal day and it’s about trying to keep the dead quiet.
Universal and Dark Horse are aiming for a Summer 2011 start date for R.I.P.D. though they’re hoping effects work can start as soon as they ink a director. My guess is we’ll find out who’s directing R.I.P.D. very soon so be sure to keep it here for that!
