One project that isn’t really sitting well with me is Amy Heckerling’s VAMPS. Don’t get me wrong… Heckerling is talented, this thing is collecting a decent enough cast and vampires are almost always fun (I’m looking at you TWILIGHT…) but for some reason I’m just not feeling it. Maybe it’s because this thing is shaping up to be more of a chick flick rather than a badass horror-comedy? Then again this is only a gut feeling considering we don’t even have much to go on just yet… I suppose I’ll just keep my judgement on hold until we see more.
Now while today’s update doesn’t offer up much in regards to what we can expect from the film, we do have another name joining the cast! According to The Hollywood Reporter it seems Richard Lewis will be the first Y chromosome to join the project! The comedian (above) has signed on to play a former student activist who works as an ACLU lawyer. He joins Alicia Silverstone (below), Krysten Ritter and Sigourney Weaver in the film. The premise for the romantic horror comedy reads:
VAMPS centers on two New York socialite vampires whose freewheeling lifestyles are tripped up when blood is pumped into their romantic lives.
Yeah… I’m thinking my gut might be right with this one. Fact is this thing is still rocking some vampires so we’ll keep telling you about it! Principal photography on VAMPS kicks off next month in Detroit so be sure to keep it here for more on the project as we hear it!
